Today’s question comes from Peter from Godalming, Surrey. Peter asks:
When driving an Automatic car should I shift into ‘Park’ (P) when stopping?
Hello Peter and thanks for your question. When stopping for a short period of time in an automatic (e.g. at traffic lights) simply placing your foot on the brake should suffice.
The park gear is designed to lock the wheels and is generally used when you are waiting for longer periods with the engine still running.
