Off Road Driving

Off Road?

Check your Car Hire Insurance Details

We all dream of taking our rental car (4×4 or not) off road for some real action, possibly traversing the beach or even tackling that mountain track – well unfortunately you may not be insured to do that.

Driving off road

Automatic Car Hire takes another look at car hire insurance and the exclusions found in rental car companies insurance clauses. This time we look at the industry standard non allowance of taking rental cars off public highways.

It was given thought that if you hire a 4×4 vehicle you would be allowed to take it off road but unfortunately taking the vehicle off road will make you liable for the full liability. The logic behind it is damage normally occurs especially to the underside of the vehicles when driving on tracks or off road.

In normal circumstances the underside of the vehicle is not insured without additional insurances anyway but it is with our insurance supplier Insurance4carhire.com. Unfortunately in line with normal car hire insurance you are unable to take the vehicle off road.

So if you are looking for that off road experience you may have to book a specialist tour which can take the for of self-drive in some destinations. If not take in the views from the highways – check your road map to ensure they are public highways and if you are in any doubt what so ever speak to the desk attendant at time of pick up.

Enjoy your rental!
