To celebrate our dominance in France we have put together the rules of hiring in France

Age Limitation

The absolute minimum age to rent a vehicle in France is 21 – there are no rental companies who will hire to anyone younger. There are no upper limits as long as you have a valid driving license.

In Case of an Emergency

All our rental companies provide you with 24 hour breakdown assistance but always call the local police in case of an accident (you will need the police report for zero excess purposes should you take our exclusive offer). Simply call 17 – the police in France are usually fast and dependable.

Fuel

Ranges from €I to €1.40 per litre – In France more than anywhere it really depends on the location. The cheapest fuel as a rule is found at the larger hypermarches. Keep an eye our for pricing and shop around is our advice.

Parking

Parking can be a nightmare especially in the larger towns and cities. Make sure you read the signs and take note of the conditions – if you are going spend considerable time in a city look for parking cartes available from shops showing the TABAC sign.

Speed Limits

Speed limits are 130 kph (80 mph) along expressways (autoroutes),
110 kph (70 mph) on dual carriageways (routes nationales)
90 kph (55 mph) on other roads (routes)
50 kph (30 mph) in cities and towns (villes et villages)

Please take notice of the signs though!

A few crucial traffic terms and signs to take down…
