Car Hire Pricing High
The reasons to use a cost comparison engine to book your upcoming rental are stacking up with reports of very high pricing direct with suppliers.
While recently sitting at Newcastle International Airport I spoke to one couple coming to Dublin for their daughter’s wedding. I was shocked to hear that from supplier Dan Dooley they had an economy car lined up for over ₤400.00 for 11 days rental. A search for eleven days on our engine in August comes up with a host of options with a lead in car from HolidayAutos for as little as ₤275.00. To be fair to Dan Dooley I did a search on their website for the same period in August (20th – 31st) and got a price of ₤327.50.
I suspect the ederly couple I spoke to included additional insurance in their quote but with Automatic car hire in conjunction with Car Hire Engine we can offer zero excess insurance with Insurance4carhire.com at market leading prices.
Include this Zeroexcess option which covers all excess amounts, keys, windscreen and a host of other options with us for ₤321.75.
Why the higher prices in the marketplace?
Newspaper reports complain of higher pricing year on year especially in places such as France and Portugal. The ironic thing is the higher pricing for hire cars is in part down to the recession.
For years car hire companies have held expensive large fleets throughout the season only selling out at certain peak times. Thus expensive new rental cars are left in the fleets forcing the companies to lower pricing dramatically to recoup money. This year the companies have decided to reduce their fleets on the premise that with the current economic climate customers travelling with be reduced.
Capacity for cheaper holidays though has not slowed rental demand as expected so lower fleet number coupled with lower than expected reduction in traffic means high demand on fleets at major gateways. Also the recession is causing people to abandon long haul holidays instead holidaying closer to home such as European and UK getaways.
Our advice is to check cost comparison engines and book well ahead. Don’t expect that your September or October rental car will be as much a bargain as your flights or hotel.
