France

Automatic Car Hire have locations across France each guaranteeing you the best choice of automatic rental vehicles at the right price.

From Nice to Tours with all major airports included you can be assured of the best automatic cars from our many top suppliers and brokers.

France is a beautiful country and the long distances sometimes involved in traversing the country makes an automatic car a “must have”. Most of the automatic car rental fleets include a majority of French makes and models which at the moment are some of the best in the automatic cars in the world.

Famous French Automatics

Citroen DS 19 Automatic – 1965, swinging like the sixties with curves like Bridget Bardot!

Citroen Ds 19

Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 Automatic – 1992. Only around 150 of these rarities produced world-wide mostly for the Japanese market. Also due to their popularity with younger drivers and the sports performance / speed there can’t be may left. If you do find one – buy it!

Pegeout 205 GTi Automatic

Renault 5 Automatic – built in two generations from 1972 to 1996 the longevity of this model speaks for itself. Like the 205 this car came second in the car of the year awards but sometimes second is best!

Renault 5 Automatic

French Automatics Hall of Shame (don’t worry none will be found on Automatic Car Hire France !)

Renault 14 Automatic – 1981 this one,  but any vintage should be pushed to the back of the cupboard.

Renault 14 Automatic

Simca Horizon – 1997. Also can be found on Automatic Car Hire UK under the brand name Talbot Horizon and the US as the Chrysler Horizon. Different names though do not hide a bad build quality from this forerunner or the modern hatchback.

Automatic Simica Horizon

Citroen GS Birotor (Also called the Citroen GZ) – 1973. A very thirsty rotary engine in a huge car launched during the oil crisis. No need to do the math why Citroen only manged to sell 847 – they even tried to buy these back so they would not have to support any requests for parts!

Now it doesn’t come as an automatic (thankfully) but I have to give a honourable mention to the the Mantra Rancho . A fine example of French engineering (ahem)
