The excess amounts on automatic cars is traditionally higher than the equivalent manual counterpart. This is down to the higher value attributed to automatic vehicles, you may say this is unfair but additional costs are incurred in making an automatic car. Like with any given additional extra to the base model of any car model, costs are added mainly just because they can!
Availability is very much reduced when it comes to automatic cars within fleets in most countries. This is different in the USA for example where driving practices and preferences over the years has made the vast majority of all fleets automatic vehicles. Anywhere else in the world though, book early as automatic transmission vehicles are highly on request and low in numbers. As they cost more and are not as “in demand” as base models, fleet managers do not buy many especially in the higher range vehicles like people carriers. That said in the premium and luxury categories of hire cars you there is more chance of getting an automatic or only automatic cars being available due to the prevalence of these transmissions in high end saloons.
Unfortunately price is a considerable difference due to lack of availability, cost of purchase and repair costs. Yes if there is a restriction in supply, demand there and additional costs incurred then of course the car hire companies will charge more for you to rent the car for the same period as the manual counterpart.
To make sure you get the best deal our of the criteria above you need a cost comparison engine specialising in only automatic car hire. From availability to price, you can counteract these with multiple suppliers and brokers competing for your business in a single search. We serve every location our partners serve worldwide so availability is unrivalled and with price sorted with just one click, automatic car hire saves you time and money.

Example Cars
Although example cars are given by our suppliers you could get a similar vehicle in the same category. The vehicle classification is made along passenger and luggage capacity which is very close along the range. You can appreciate that a supplier fleet although biased towards a single manufacturer will always have a wide range of manufacturers and models.
As a cost comparison engine we are tied to what our partners pass us through the XML feed we request and receive car hire searches. We are though adding further example cars in the car hire fleet along the following lines base on over 10 years in the car hire industry.

Fuel Policies
They Do Differ From Supplier to Supplier
Once upon a time car rental was a similar package no matter where you picked it up. The fuel tank was full, you had an insurance excess on CDW / Theft and you had to return the vehilce full with fuel. If you didn’t you were charged a premium cost for the fact the rental company had to fill it up.
Well then for Car Hire Spain it all got very competitive, the cost of holidays reduced and a handful of rental companies thought of a great way of getting the edge over the big boys. Thus was born the concept of giving zero excess on insurance, charging the customer for the fuel in the car and asking them to return it empty.
